RZAPS - Zurita Architects-Cosmopolitan Plaza

In midtown Manhattan the design for a “Privately-Owned-Public Space” (POPS) replaces the outdated 1980’s plaza with a design that provides public seating, planters and a cafe to be operated by the Greek restaurant located in the building adjacent to the open space.

The west side of the space has undulating tiered planters. A long sinuous stone bench follows the curve of the planters along the entire length of the space from the front to rear, providing public seating. The rear and west walls are tall metal mesh screens covered with ivy.
