Part of Randallâs Island Redevelopment, this visitor and nature center would become the base for a nature and science study program for local students. Adjacent to fresh water and salt water wetlands, the facility orients to the natural environment and incorporates sustainable design. Pitched roofs channel rainwater for storage. PV panels and turbines capture solar and wind energy. Skylights and sloped ceilings control natural light for the interior. A solar aquatics system serves dual wastewater cleaning and educational functions.
