The project addresses the significant urban and social changes of the past century. Originally a means to facilitate motor access out of the city, the Grand Concourse transforms from a thoroughfare for linear movement, to a distinguishable urban space that reinforces the current urban conditions surrounding it. By condensing vehicular traffic, new opportunities for recreation, green space, and affordable housing emerge. The design won Honorable Mention for the competition.
