260 W 39TH STREET
Client:
West 39-260 Realty, Inc.

The design aimed to impart a sense of comfort and improve visual orientation to the visitor through better proportioned spaces and strategic improvements. The design for the lobby eliminated the portal between the two parts of the “L” placing a beautiful, sculptural wood and glass desk at its nexus. In the elevator waiting area, a walnut wood panel suspended from the ceiling and bent to create the rear wall adds a dramatic element, improving the proportions of the space and allowing for new air conditioning equipment hidden.
On the exterior, a prominent entrance with a limestone and granite portal interrupts the black granite facade.

The design, a blending of the building’s traditional details with modern materials was the winner of the annual Fashion District Award for Best Design.
