Grand Concourse Master Plan
Area:
10 linear miles
The project addresses the significant urban and social changes of the past century along the storied Grand Concourse. Originally designed as a broad boulevard to facilitate motor access in and out of the city, the extreme width of the Grand Concourse was seen to have potential to create housing and recreational green spaces along its length by splitting and narrowing the existing roadways.
The traffic corridor that splits the neighborhoods in two that it traverses can now knit these halves together.
A competition entry, the design won an Honorable Mention.
